The Global Assamese Convention 2027 is a three-day gathering of the global Assamese community, friends of Assam, institutions, professionals, scholars, cultural practitioners, entrepreneurs, and young leaders. It builds on the experience of the Global Assamese Conference 2026 and aims to strengthen long-term engagement between Assam and its worldwide community.

The Convention is proposed to be held from 31 December 2026 to 2 January 2027 at Assam Down Town University, Guwahati. The first two days will take place at the university campus, while the third day is planned as an outdoor engagement and networking day.

The Convention is open to members of the Assamese diaspora, people living in Assam, friends of Assam, academics, professionals, students, artists, entrepreneurs, community organisations, institutions, and anyone who shares an interest in Assam’s culture, knowledge, sustainability, and future development.

The Convention will focus on Assam’s identity, culture, language, heritage, education, health, entrepreneurship, innovation, sustainability, tourism, research, and global engagement. It will combine reflection on Assam’s civilisational continuity with practical discussions on future collaboration.

Culture will be an important part of the Convention, but the gathering is not limited to cultural celebration. It is also intended as a platform for knowledge exchange, mentorship, institutional partnerships, entrepreneurship, sustainability, youth engagement, and practical follow-up through the Global Assamese Engagement Initiative.

Yes. The programme will include keynote addresses, plenary sessions, panel discussions, and moderated conversations. Speakers will be selected from relevant fields, including culture, education, health, sustainability, entrepreneurship, research, public life, and diaspora engagement. Speaker details will be announced as confirmations are completed.

The third day is planned as an outdoor engagement day. Delegates may visit nearby sanctuaries and natural heritage sites, including Kaziranga National Park, subject to final logistics, permissions, travel feasibility, and delegate preferences. The aim is to create a relaxed setting for fellowship, networking, and reflection on Assam’s natural heritage.

Yes. Networking is one of the key purposes of the Convention. Lunch breaks, tea breaks, thematic discussions, working groups, and the outdoor day will all provide opportunities for delegates to meet, exchange ideas, identify common interests, and explore future collaborations.
