Who We Are
The Global Assamese Engagement Initiative emerged from the experience and deliberations of the Global Assamese Conference 2026, held at IIT Guwahati. The Conference brought together members of the Assamese diaspora, friends of Assam, scholars, professionals, cultural practitioners, entrepreneurs, community leaders, and institutions to explore how Assam and its global community can work together in a sustained and purposeful way.
The Initiative seeks to move beyond occasional gatherings and emotional connection alone. Its purpose is to build a living bridge between Assam and the wider world — through knowledge, culture, mentorship, partnerships, enterprise, research, and practical collaboration.
Our Vision
To create a trusted, inclusive, and enduring global platform through which Assamese people and friends of Assam, wherever they live, can contribute to Assam’s creativity, knowledge, cultural confidence, institutional strength, and sustainable development.
Our Mission
The mission of the Global Assamese Engagement Initiative is to convert goodwill into structured engagement. We aim to connect people, institutions, and ideas in ways that are practical, ethical, collaborative, and rooted in Assam’s lived realities.
Connect
Build a global network of Assamese individuals, organisations, institutions, professionals, artists, scholars, entrepreneurs, students, and friends of Assam.
Collaborate
Encourage partnerships across education, health, culture, entrepreneurship, sustainability, research, public policy, and community development.
Contribute
Create pathways through which members of the diaspora and friends of Assam can contribute expertise, mentorship, resources, institutional relationships, and practical support.
Continue
Build institutional continuity so that global Assamese engagement does not depend only on individuals, events, or temporary enthusiasm.
Our Current Legal Status
At present, the Global Assamese Conference functions through an interim arrangement constituted as an Association of Persons under Indian law. This is a voluntary, non-profit, unincorporated body created for a specific and transitional purpose.
This arrangement allows the organisers to coordinate activities, manage conference- related responsibilities, operate through authorised signatories, maintain records, and undertake preparatory work while a more enduring legal form is developed.
The interim structure is not intended to be permanent. It is a bridge arrangement designed to support the transition from the inaugural Global Assamese Conference toward a stable, accountable, and legally constituted organisation for long-term global Assamese engagement.
Towards an Enduring Organisation
The Initiative is committed to developing an appropriate permanent legal and institutional form in India. The envisaged organisation will provide continuity, accountability, and a durable framework for programmes, partnerships, funds, records, responsibilities, and future global gatherings.
Once the successor organisation is legally constituted, the assets, records, and responsibilities of the interim arrangement are expected to be transferred to the enduring body, allowing the work to continue with greater clarity and institutional strength.

Encourage collaboration in preventive health, public health, healthcare quality, patient safety, and community wellbeing.

Promote Assamese language, literature, oral history, music, performing arts, memory, crafts, and living cultural traditions.
Entrepreneurship & Innovation
Connect local enterprise, startups, creative industries, food systems, tourism, and technology-led innovation with mentors and partners.
Sustainability
Support responsible development rooted in Assam’s ecology, biodiversity, river systems, rural livelihoods, and climate realities.
Research & Policy
Facilitate collaborative research, policy dialogue, publications, conferences, and evidence-informed public discussion.

Its central belief is simple: Assam’s future will be stronger when her people at home and her people across the world work together with seriousness, humility, imagination, and institutional commitment.
